MISSION: Achievement through Equity, Creativity, and Scientific Rigor.
VISION: International-minded adolescents, serving, equipped for life’s transitions.
VALUES: Our 3 Pillars – Stewardship (using the principles of Sustainability, United Nations definition), Service (using the 8 Quality Standards for Service-learning of the National Youth Leadership Council – NYLC), and Student Success (as measured by growth indicators that include standards-based tests, and student/teacher/family inputs).
BELIEFS: the 4 C’s – Clarity, Consistency, Consequences, Communication · Clarity – of expectations (for students/staff and families – our Learning Community): We believe “All students can learn and achieve to their highest potential and we will provide clear goals and expectations for them to be successful.” · Consistency – of instructional delivery – from classrooms to hallways to dining room to home – “We will be consistent in our approaches to learning and how we carry out the business of teaching and learning to ensure student success.” · Consequences – Our Goal is high academic achievement and student success. We believe that when the Learning Community is Clear and Consistent about our Expectations for how we all work together, there will be very little need for any negative consequences to be enforced by anyone in the school or at home. Nevertheless, should the need occur, clearly spelled out follow-up to unacceptable behavior will be taken and coordinated with appropriate actions at school and by parents/guardians in the home. · Communication through Conversation is our Bottom Line for school effectiveness. We will engage every day in positive ways in dialog that contributes to the support of learning for all. We believe that we can learn from one another as we grow together and do as Gandhi, to “Be the change” we want to see in our world.
PURPOSE: Crosswinds exists to support the overall reason for EMID – to fulfill Federal and State laws to integrate and desegregate the public schools of our member districts and provide meaningful and equitable education for all.
